Day Trip to San Giovanni Rotondo (Padre Pio)

This past Sunday, another free day, four members of the class set out by rental car across the Italian peninsula to visit the Shrine of St. Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio) at Our Lady of Grace Capuchin Friary at San Giovanni Rotondo, near Foggia, Italy.  Deacons Steve Jones, Robert Abotzabire, Peter Akudugu, and Manuel Gomez-Reza represented us at this holy place, where St. Pio lived, prayed, and suffered for most of his life - bearing the wounds of Our Lord and keeping up a tireless apostolate.

The members of the group, all having a strong devotion to this great 20th century Saint, prayed at his tomb and visited the large church and hospital there.
