As the class slowly trickles into the Eternal City, several deacons had the opportunity to attend and assist at Papal Liturgies in the last 24 hours - Vespers on the evening of the 31st and Mass this morning with His Holiness. At the Mass, Deacons Nick VanDenBroeke (St. Paul - Mpls), Joseph Backowski and Ben Kociemba (St. Cloud), Steve Jones and John Rutten (Sioux Falls) stood near the altar as the Holy Father consecrated the very hosts they were holding, and subsequently distributed to the faithful gathered in the Basilica.
